  • 2. Fit it snugly: For the collar to work, it needs to stay in contact with your dog’s skin. Adjust it so it’s snug but still comfy - you should be able to fit a couple of fingers underneath.)
  • 3. Keep it on 24/7: Your dog can wear it all day, every day. The pheromones are released continuously, helping your dog feel supported around the clock.
  • 4. Remove only for bathing or swimming: Water can reduce how well the collar works, so take it off for baths, swimming or grooming sessions.

How do I use an ADAPTIL Calm Collar?

The collar should be fitted snugly on your dog’s neck to ensure proper functioning.

  • After removing from the packaging, place a finger in the plastic loop situated on the inside of the collar close to the buckle
  • Use this loop pull to uncoil the collar
  • Feed the end through the buckle
  • Place over your dog’s head
  • Tighten the collar to fit snugly on your dog’s skin
  • You should be able to place no more than 2 fingers between the collar and your dog’s skin
  • Ensure the collar is secure
  • Cut off any excess portion of the collar
  • When ADAPTIL Calm Collar comes in contact with the skin, your dog’s body temperature warms the collar resulting in the diffusion of “appeasing messages” into the local environment
  • The collar should remain on your dog at all times (except when using shampoo).

What size ADAPTIL Calm Collar do I need?

ADAPTIL Calm Collar size S is recommended for dogs up to 15 kg (neck measurement up to 37.5cm).

ADAPTIL Calm Collar size M/L is recommended for dogs up to 50 kg (neck measurement up to 62.5cm).

The collar should be fitted snugly around your dog’s neck at all times (except if bathing your dog using shampoo).

How long does an ADAPTIL Calm Collar work for?

One collar lasts 30 days. It is recommended to replace the collar every 4 weeks, to ensure continued reassurance to your dog.

How long does it take an ADAPTIL Calm Collar to work?

The ADAPTIL Calm Collar will start to work immediately upon being fitted to your dog. Be sure to adjust the collar properly and check regularly to ensure a proper fit (if the collar is too loose, it will not be warmed enough by your dog’s body heat).

Many dog parents start to see results within the first 7 days. However, every dog is unique. Depending on how long the signs have been present and how severe the signs may be, it may take longer to see an improvement.

How long should I use an ADAPTIL Calm Collar for?

Most dogs will benefit from continuous use of ADAPTIL Calm Collar to create a reassuring environment at home and when they are out and about. The minimum recommended duration is one month.

When should I use an ADAPTIL Calm Collar?

ADAPTIL Calm helps dogs adapt to everyday stressful situations they face living with us. The ADAPTIL Calm Collar releases "appeasing messages" to comfort and reassure your dog at home and when they are out and about.

It is the ideal solution to help your dog with stress-related issues, such as:

  • loud noises, such as fireworks or thunderstorms
  • issues when staying in a kennel (barking, whining, pacing...)
  • showing signs of fear when on walks
  • support during training.

When shouldn't I use an ADAPTIL Calm Collar?

  • If your dog’s issues are not related to stress, ADAPTIL Calm will not help.
  • If your dog’s issues are due to a lack of proper training (hyperactivity, over-excitement), ADAPTIL Calm will not help.
  • If your dog’s issues are due to boredom, ADAPTIL Calm will not help.
  • If your dog is housesoiling due to a lack of toilet training, or due to medical reasons, ADAPTIL Calm will not help. It is important to consult a veterinarian to rule out potential medical issues.
  • ADAPTIL Calm will not help and should never be used in cases of aggression towards humans or other dogs. In such situations, we strongly recommend consulting your vet or an accredited behaviourist.

Can I use ADAPTIL Calm Collar intermittently?

Don't remove the collar, except for when bathing your dog and using shampoo.

Leave the collar on 24 hours a day. Clinical trials show that the collar is effective when used continuously (24 hours a day) as this allows your dog to continuously perceive the “appeasing messages” of ADAPTIL.

Once the collar is out of the box and the packet opened it has a 30 day life span. It is beneficial to keep it on your dog at all times and not remove it during these 30 days.

Can I recycle an ADAPTIL Calm Collar?

No, the collar is not made of recyclable plastic material.

Does the ADAPTIL Calm Collar work for short haired and long haired dogs?

Yes. The “appeasing messages” diffusion has been tested on 70 dogs with various hair lengths: short, medium, long.

Hair length has no impact on diffusion as long as the collar is fitted snugly to the dog's skin.
